1000 miles! Why did I agree to do this? Iv done many things over the years to help raise awareness and money for many charities, some have been simple donations, spending time with the people the charity help, taking less fortunate people for tours of Emmerdale, running marathons and even Wing Walking,.... But never anything as physically and mentally challenging as this. The people who know me, know how much these things, although sometimes seem so simple, mean to me. Over the years, working alongside various charities, I have been privileged to meet some exceptionally brave and courageous children who seem so humble and happy despite their awful circumstances. It's then you realise just how precious life is, and unfortunately, how it's often very cruel.

I've been blessed with good health and want to do as much as I can to help those who have not.

I am sure Kelvin, Finbarr, Julian & Matt all have their reasons for taking part in Cycle of Wishes but we all have the same goal in the end. I am sure there are lots of you out there who think that I may not complete the epic challenge I have set myself but I am determined, the pain and effort will be nothing compared to what the children at Make a Wish deal with everyday of their lives!

Having retired from competition in 2004, after racing for over 18 years professionally I realised how fortunate I have been. I am blessed with a beautiful family, I have visited many places, met some great people and I am in good health all this can sometimes be taken for granted.

I am excited about the task ahead as it will allow me to give a little back and will help grant a few wishes to people who have been less fortunate.

Having a child of my own I can’t comprehend what the children and their family are going through and when Jamie asked me to do this I jumped at the chance of helping the kids and making a small difference in their lives.

I am really looking forward to this task as it will be something that I will remember for years to come.

When my great friend Jamie asked me to take part in the ride-out I thought it would be a great challenge for me mentally and physically. I am 41 years old I am a keen cyclist and triathlete. This opportunity will enable me to help raise necessary funds for an excellent cause whilst helping to improve my personal fitness. I can't wait to get started...

After providing personalized training advice based on the physiological lab assessments we conducted in Loughborough, I was really excited to be invited along as the teams Sport Scientist. Having completed my BSc and MSc, and being registered for an endurance performance PhD, I am always extremely keen to boost performance by applying my knowledge to real sporting situations such as this. Knowing that this ride would provide all sorts of challenges, from the varied role as the team Sport Scientist and Nutritionist (...from mixing rehydration fuels at 1:30am...to spending lunch breaks measuring urine...!!), to the personal strains of cycling 1000 miles...I jumped at the chance!

Make a Wish create such great opportunities for the children they support, and I am extremely proud to have been a member of this determined fundraising team. Please please please make a kind donation to help these childrens wishes come true.
