Welcome to Cycle of Wishes

Cycle of Wishes is more than a challenge and a project close to the hearts of the participants...
It is a symbol of just how a simple idea can give a little something back to the children and families that endure a longer struggle and face a harder path than that which will be traversed at the start of June.

The ten-day trek will start on 9th June at the Catalonian round of the 2008 MotoGP, just outside the scenic Mediterranean metropolis of Barcelona, and will finish at the British Grand Prix hosted by the Donington Park circuit in the Midlands on 18th June.

Actor Kelvin Fletcher and former Motocross World Champion Jamie Dobb will be joined each day by a host of supportive celebrities including Kawasaki’s John Hopkins and Ducati’s Marco Melandri from the world of MotoGP. Members of the public will also have the opportunity to join the duo on their venture by raising a minimum amount of three thousand pounds in sponsorship money. Funds raised by the project will be given to the Make-a-Wish foundation, a charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people with life-threatening illnesses.

For Rhys

Rhys Grundy whose eight-year fight against leukemia touched thousands of lives. Rhys, of Fenham, Newcastle, successfully battled leukemia four times showing strength and resilience beyond his young years. On December 15th 2001 through Make A Wish I had the great pleasure of meeting Rhys and learned a great deal from him. Rhys was given just a couple of weeks to live and at the time we meet. At that time I saw the “Power of a wish” as he made a great recovery yet again. Over the following years we enjoyed many fun times together visiting Donington Park for the MotoGP were he got to meet many of the riders. But on Friday 11th October, 2003 he finally succumbed to the condition.

Rhys was never without a smile or a joke and I will forever cherish the great times we spent together.

Rhys was truly an Angel and one whose life was taken way too soon.
